I made an account a year or two ago, but hated that they penalize new players by giving long term advantage to old timers. If you know you can't become the best (or close to it) through skill alone, there's no point in trying.

They changed the skill system a few expasions back.

Its faster for the early stuff basicly, 100% skill learning speed up to 1.6 million plus tutorials give you a load of books for free. I've barely played 3 weeks and I'm in a battlecruiser.

i played for 2 weeks when the game first came out, several years ago now. I didn't like idea of paying money to play a game on a monthly basis, so when the trial i had ran out, I moved on. For the best, probably. Time = money. too.

You can actualy make money playing EVE apparenty (by selling PLEXs), not that i intend to play that much

So, first impressions of EVE. I went into the game kinda already knowing that it was survivalist, evil in nature, having heard many a story on the forums. So I was prepared - i thought. Ha. Turns out, people really ARE out to fuck you over. Scamming, swindling, misleading advice to noobs - you got it all. That's just part of grim reality, at least the one I experienced thus far. People will work to appear trustworthy, only to scam you out of ISK one way or the other. You have to be more vigilant, and I'm not even talking about lowsec.

So. I'm currently parked in Jita, just getting the skills going. Not much else to do but wait for the time being. Then I guess the next step is PvE in high-sec. What are you up to?

The video spiel at Eve online is very inspiring but i've been away from gaming to long to simply jump into a complicated game and besides; i was never into complex gaming (lack the smarts).

I'm kinda embarrassed to admit it, to be honest.

I'm skipping the normal scams I've seen where people offer to buy your plex for slightly above-market value of 290...... thousand isk, not million, etc. The hauling scams, the let's-lure-you-into low sec scams, suicide-gank you in high-sec, etc. There's a lot to be careful of in this game.

I was doing so well avoiding all that, and then.... I lost 1.2 bil. No, really, I lost 1.2 billion ISK in a matter of seconds. Asked on rookie channel how to sell a stack of plexes, got a message from a very friendly old timer with very detailed instructions on how to make a proper SELL CONTRACT for a stack - which I did, including specifying individual price. In reality you're supposed to do this through a sell menu, not sell contracts. Sell contracts don't have individual prices. End result: sold the stack for the price of one.

I think that's where people would normally say "HAHAA OMG NOOB! PWNED" while I ponder my 1.2 billion lesson.

Oh well, it's a game. I can just pretend I lost a carrier in an epic battle with an awesome story to go along with, where we faced terrible odds but did the best we could. It helps me cope.
